Superman "The American Way"

“All acts of legislature apparently contrary to natural right and justice are, in our laws, and must be in the nature of things, considered as void.

The laws of nature are the laws of God, whose authority can be superseded by no power on earth. A legislature must not obstruct our obedience to Him from whose punishments they cannot protect us.

All human constitutions which contradict His laws, we are in conscience bound to disobey.” - George Mason. Member of the Constitutional Convention. (The Pledge, One Nation Under God) William J. Murry p.9.

Remember Superman? The old one of course with George Reeves, well, you would have to have a few years under your belt to remember that one. Anyway, he fought for Truth, Justice, and the American way.

"Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Look! Up in the sky. It's a bird. It's a plane. It's Superman!

Yes, it's Superman - a strange visitor from another planet who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men.
Superman - who can change the course of mighty rivers, bend steel in his bare hands, and who disguised as Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper, fights a neverending battle for Truth, Justice, and the American Way."

I remember seeing that big (S) on his suit, it meant something.

He was a hero, everything about him was good, and that goodness was associated with the American way.
It’s amazing, though I was just a little boy, just being an American meant something to me. Somehow, I felt that being an American came with responsibility, a responsibility to be good, to love truth and justice, it was the American way!

Ever wonder what made us feel that way? This is not a genetic thing like the superior race idea that has tried to rule the world. This is nothing like that at all, it’s something that called to us as a people, to be the best we could be
.
It was a way to act when we were threatened. It was a way to act when people were in need. It was a way to act when our neighbor needed help or the stranger along the road. It was a way to act when evil rose its ugly face.

It was a way that, though not always easy to follow, was easy to see. There were times we choose not to follow for a while, but soon we came to understand the way was best for us.

Where did this American way come from? What was its source? Is it still here? Do we still seek its path or are we again choosing not to follow?

What is a just law anyway? If a society chooses to enact a civil law that says it is now legal for two men to live together with the provision of having oral and anal sex with each other and two women also to do the same as what was previously known as Sodomy, and calling it equal rights, does that make it a just law? Is that the American way, is that what our children will grow up and see as the American way? Will they see that as good, a way to follow and desire after?

What about a society that chooses to enact a law that says a woman can take her unborn child to a doctor and allow him to kill it at whatever stage the life may be in, is that a just law? Is that the American way? Is that what we want our children to see as good?

What about a society that through its educational system says it is not legal to pray or tell someone about the saviour of the world in their own school or public places? Is that the American way? Is that what we want our children to see and understand as good?

In the last Superman movie, it has been observed that the words “American way” have been omitted. It was said it might offend someone. Have we as a people, as Americans, omitted the American way?

Let’s read again, “All acts of legislature apparently contrary to natural right and justice are, in our laws, and must be in the nature of things, considered as void.

The laws of nature are the laws of God, whose authority can be superseded by no power on earth. A legislature must not obstruct our obedience to Him from whose punishments they cannot protect us.

All human constitutions which contradict His laws, we are in conscience bound to disobey.” - George Mason.

May God bless each of you,
David
