First From Julie's Keyboard:
"A Place of Safety"
Looking about in this world on the decisions we find ourselves making by the day, too often these choices are made without any real assurance of a productive outcome. Take for example the Stock Broker who handles your retirement investments. When he asks you that necessary question of a "conservative" investment or an "aggressive" choice, you know that he's telling you that you 're certain to make little of anything with the first choice, yet risking it all to make the second choice with the possibility of a great loss. So, where is safety?
Or, maybe your healthcare package is teetering on the edge, or possibly cancelled altogether, and you don't believe that you can afford an alternative. What can one do in times of such "insecurity?"
Then again, maybe neither of those things mentioned are a part of the concern in your life yet because you are just trying to eat and keep a roof over your head. Is there hope for such a predicament? I submit to you today that there is an answer for everything that ails us. One of my favorite places to find It is Psalm 91:
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, he is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with His feathers ,and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation."
May we trust Him for this "secret place" today. Surely, if we would truly do this, every trouble of this world would fade from the position of preeminence in our lives.
In His Place of Refuge,
Julie

"In
my opinion, the present constitution is the standard to which we are to
cling. Under its banner bona fide must we combat our political foes,
rejecting all changes but through the channel itself provided for
amendments. By these general views of the subject have my reflections
been guided."A Place of Safety"

"Christian Constitution"
I now offer you the outline of the plan they have suggested. Let an association be formed to be denominated 'The Christian Constitutional Society,' its object to be first: The support of the Christian religion. second: The support of the United States." ~ Alexander Hamilton. April 16-21, 1802, in writing to James Bayard. Claude G. Bowers, Jefferson and Hamilton: The Struggle for Democracy in America (Boston: Houghton Mifflin Co., 1925, 1927), p. 40.
Alexander Hamilton was not only a signer of the Constitution of the United States, but was known as the "Ratifier of the Constitution." It is probable that without his efforts the Constitution may not have been ratified by the states. How is it today that "Separation of Church and State" is the dominant phase that rules? Though that phase does not appear in the Constitution or any governing documents.
Surely one so instrumental as Hamilton in the signing and ratification of the Constitution had a clear understanding of its scope and purpose. He understood within it were the freedom to support the Christian religion upon which John Adams said, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other"
These men understood the nature of man, or fallen state, and our tendency toward moral decay. They understood for men to be free, they must be moral, and for society to be maintained in a moral state, there must be support for the Christian religion. The Constitution is totally inadequate to govern a people who cannot govern themselves!
It is a marvelous document of freedom, but it is limited by the freedom it protects. We hear a lot about American exceptionalism these days, but you remove the Gospel from us and it's affect upon our people over the years and you find nothing exceptional about us. The human race is the same where ever you go, all our fallen and sinful at heart; we try to do good, but find we cannot. It has been the Christian faith upon which the foundation of our society has rested from it's inception, we remove that foundation, we remove our life's blood!
I know many who read this will be offended saying, "Don't push that religious stuff on me" "Another right wing religious nut trying to turn our democracy into a religious theocracy" I understand that, I understand why they feel that way, I would not expect them the feel any other way. How else can they feel, they do not understand the faith of our Founders, so how could understand their idea's and concepts of government? They have to interpret the Constitution in a secular way, it's all they understand.
So my argument is not with them, but it is my pray that our God will have mercy and by His Sovereign Grace move our nation once again back to our foundation.
May the God of Grace be made clear in your heart,
David
