First From Julie's Keyboard:
What Is Man,...?
After reading through David's post today, I was reminded of the passage in the Psalm of David 8:4
"What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visiteth him?"
In light of the study in this 8th Psalm, man seems so puny in the vastnesss of God's creation. Yet, still as we're told in the 5th verse, He bothers to crown man with "glory and honor." A creature, so unlikely and without hope to help himself, is redeemed with a ransom of grace in such fashion beyond man's imagination.
Even the prophet Isaiah put it in this manner when he said: "Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?" I heard this put in a paraphrase version as quite simply, "Man is a nose with air within." It's just that simple, especially if we leave out the life of God within the man.
The Giver of the spirit in the man, and the breath that he breathes are all gifts of the Most High God. We exist for His pleasure and His purpose. Yet, without receiving the Gift of eternal life through Christ Jesus the Lord, this existence will be one for vain purposes.
When we deserved nothing but condemnation, God provided a way to bring justice in our sentence through His Son, without sin, taking our sin and paying our penalty. What a price for a people (or a man) of so seeming little significance. Our God counted us worthy and His great love paid our dues.
At our very least offering of gratitude, we should present our bodies before Him as living sacrifices according to His Word. How grateful we should eternally be that He was "mindful of us." Man is but a breath until God places His Spirit within him and Christ begins to be formed within us in a process of sanctification.
If this life is unknown to you today, the following verses will give you the key to eternal life:
John 3:16,17 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."
May you be crowned with glory and honor in Him,
Julie

"The Measure of Man"
Last week I did not post, I thought of it, but there comes a time when you have to wonder, what else can be said?
This week again I thought of it, but then, what else can be said? So I have been going about this weekend wondering if I should post on the blog or not. I was leaning on Not!
It was then my sweet wonderful wife mentioned a movie she had seen last night after I had gone to bed, she thought I would enjoy it. So I engaged the evening in doing so. Now I am here mainly, I suppose, because of that movie.
The acting was not all that convincing or adequate, but Oh, what a story! The movie was titled, "The Measure of a Man". What is the measure of man anyway? The true measure can be said not only of the man, but also of the woman, that measure being what God intended Him or Her to be.
The scripture defines for us who we are and the roles we play in the way we call life. It instructs us how to be fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, son's, daughters, leaders, followers, friends, neighbors, and it even tells us how to treat the animals around us. It tells us everything we need to build our lives to it's full measure, our homes, our communities, and our country.

Since
I'm just talking here, I will mention that this morning in my teen
class at Church, I told the young ladies in class if I could, I would
apologize for my country for what it has done to them in placing them on
the front lines in military combat.
I would never have dreamed this in America, sending our daughters to defend us, I am so sorry for my country.
The measure of man is to be the provider, protector, and the leader of his home. That measure is lived out when at times he is called upon to defend his country, as a protector of the innocence he reaches for this measure. My posts here are all simply principles by which we as a people lived by and produced our society and built our country. Principles of faith that were a part of our everyday life. Even those among us who were not religious identified with those principles as right and worthy, even when we failed in our personal application of them in our own lives.
Our principles have been erroding for some time now, but it seems we have suddenly jumped off the principle cliff and have rejected every moral absolute and foundational principle we ever clung to! What we once would have been embarassed to mention we now scream from the highest building. Our fathers would have never been so embarassed as to ask our young ladies to go the front lines and fight for us, but now we deem it right and proper. I fear now after the jump, we must prepare for the landing that may not be ever so soft.
We
were once a people who defended and protected our families, we
cherished the role God had given each of us. We saw the men as the
protectors, as such, one of their measures as a husband was to protect
and provide for his wife, to honor the precious place of which God had
placed her. As a father he was to protect his daughter's innocence till
she be found in her full measure as a daughter of God. I would never have dreamed this in America, sending our daughters to defend us, I am so sorry for my country.

We were never fully successful in any of those measures, but it was a mark we strove for, a part of our society.
Now we send our wives and daughters to war to fight on the front lines. And let us not forget, many will not come home. And many of our young ladies want to go, that also is a result of our abandonment from our previous way of life.
So what are we to do? I know of no answer except to petition our Lord for mercy that He may once again give us grace to hold in our hearts the faith we once had, once again!
May God bless each of you,
David
