"We the People" Part II
We
the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union,
establish Justice, ensure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common
defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of
Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this
Constitution for the United States of America.
“We the People of the United States . . . to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish . . .” In the finished reading of the pre-amble identifies to us for whom and to whom the purpose of this document was to work for. We the people did it for ourselves and our posterity. This document was to work for us and on our behalf. The powers given to the government were for our benefit, not for the benefit of those who govern. It was to ensure our liberty by the service of those placed in government.
We the people do not work for this document nor for the government, this document and this government work for, “We the People of the United States”. In turn “We the People of the United States” and those sworn to represent us in government authority defend this document with our lives and fortune.
It was not ordained and established to be an overbearing burden and strong arm over the people, extracting their resources and benefiting from their labor. Its purpose was to heavily restrict the powers and authority of government to do just that. It was to ensure our personal and individual pursuit of the benefits of freedom and liberty while protecting the same for our fellow man and preserving it for posterity.
Just the reading of the preamble of this document is ample cause to stir our hearts and our hopes for ourselves and our children.
